Search Warrants Executed in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation Result in Cash and Firearms Seizures

The Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) Crime Reduction and Enforcement Unit with the assistance of the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed multiple judicially authorized search warrants in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation on August 10, 2026, as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.

Police executed Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants at two residences located on Townsite.

Several individuals were detained and arrested during the first warrant execution while officers conducted a thorough search of the property, which included an associated detached shed.

As part of the same investigation, officers subsequently executed a second search warrant at another residence on Townsite, where police located and seized $10,260 in Canadian currency concealed within a rifle case, along with numerous firearms, air guns, ammunition, and related weapons. 

Items seized included:

• $10,260 CAD cash
• Savage Model 10 .308 calibre rifle
• Revolution Armoury Celerity 12-gauge shotgun
• Multiple Remington and Winchester shotguns
• Several bolt-action rifles
• Pellet guns, BB guns, and airsoft firearms
• Assorted ammunition

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be considered as evidence continues to be reviewed.
