Police Investigate a Shooting Incident

Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba

On March 16, 2024, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) responded to Mikisew Street in Opaskwayak Cree Nation regarding reports of gunshots. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.


Members of the Manitoba First Nation Police Service attended to the scene and confirmed that there was damage consistent with a gunshot. Homeowners told Police that the subjects were seen running from the area toward the school. RPAS Drone was deployed, which assisted in the apprehension of multiple subjects; they were later released because there was no evidence to support charges at this time.


Police are actively investigating this matter and are seeking the public's assistance to obtain information regarding this incident.

Police believe that this was an isolated incident.
