Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

The Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) conducted a traffic stop in Fisher River Cree Nation, which led to the seizure of suspected crack cocaine and the arrest of two individuals.


On September 20, 2026, at approximately 2 a.m., the MFNPS conducted a traffic stop on a rental vehicle from Winnipeg on Highway 224.


Upon stopping the vehicle, police observed drug paraphernalia and accessible alcohol containers in plain view. The two occupants of the vehicle were then detained for a CDSA drug investigation.


Police discovered an individually packaged substance suspected to be crack cocaine. A further search led to the discovery of other drug paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and an alcohol container.


As a result of the investigation:


A man and woman from Fisher River Cree Nation were arrested and charged with Possession for Purpose of Trafficking. The man was additionally charged with Obstruct Peace Officer.


Both individuals were subsequently released on undertakings.
