Female Attacked by Dogs in Waywayseecappo First Nation

Waywayseecappo First Nation: On February 24, 2024 around 4:00 A.M., a 22 year old female from Waywayseecappo First Nation was walking alone on Procure Road in the community when she was attacked by a group of dogs. The victims clothing was ripped away and she sustained numerous dog bites. The victim was able to scream for help at which time other community members came to her aid and chased the dogs away.

 

The victim was transported to Russell Health Care in Russell, Manitoba where she was admitted for her injuries. She is currently in stable condition.


On February 25, 2024, Waywayseecappo First Nation Safety Officers (WFNSO) along with MFNPS officers attended to a residence in the community where 3 of the dogs responsible for the attack were located. WFNSO seized 2 dogs without incident but had to put the other dog down. 


This incident is still under investigation.
