Increased Police Activity in Long Plain First Nation

On March 5, 2026, members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) Crime Reduction and Enforcement Unit (CREU), with assistance from officers of the Long Plain Detachment, executed several search warrants authorized by the Provincial Court.


Among these warrants were three targeting individuals who were wanted on outstanding arrest warrants and had been actively evading police.


As a result of these warrants:


Perry Nathan Whitford (31) of Long Plain First Nation was located and arrested with the following:

· Warrant of Arrest – Break and Enter

· Warrant of Arrest for:

o Theft Under $5,000

o Break and Enter

o Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000

· Warrant of Arrest – Break and Enter with Intent

· Warrant of Arrest for:

o Break and Enter

o Mischief Over $5,000


In addition to these warrants, Whitford was also banished from Long Plain First Nation by way of Band Council Resolution (BCR).

Whitford was held in custody following his arrest.


The MFNPS remains committed to enhancing community safety and will continue proactive investigations targeting high-risk offenders.
