Forcible Confinement – Multiple subjects charged, two are wanted

On February 27, 2026, at approximately 6:00 PM, Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers were advised of a suspicious person in a residential neighborhood near the Otineka Mall. Officers attended and found the adult male had been seriously assaulted and held against his will for several hours at a nearby residence.


Additional resources were deployed and a residence on Mikisew Street was contained. Four adults were taken into custody. A search warrant was conducted on the residence later in the day.


Police believe that the victim was intentionally and specifically targeted. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported the victim to the hospital where he was treated and later released.


Delaney BALLANTYNE (22) of Opaskwayak Cree Nation has been arrested and remanded into custody with the following charges:

-          Aggravated assault

-          Assault with a weapon

-          Assault while choking / strangling

-          Forcible Confinement

-          Administering a noxious substance

-          Uttering threats

-          Commit an offence for a criminal organization

-          Failing to comply with probation order


Maximus BALLANTYNE (24) of Opaskwayak Cree Nation has been arrested and remanded into custody with the following charges:

-          Aggravated assault

-          Assault with a weapon

-          Assault while choking / strangling

-          Forcible confinement

-          Administering a noxious substance

-          Uttering threats

-          Resist / Obstruct a Police Officer

-          Commit an offence for a criminal organization

-          Failing to comply with probation order


Cory Tyler HARRIS (40) of Opaskwayak Cree Nation has been arrested and remanded into custody with the following charges:

-          Aggravated assault

-          Assault with a weapon

-          Assault while choking / strangling

-          Forcible confinement

-          Administering a noxious substance

-          Uttering threats

-          Commit an offence for a criminal organization

-          Fail to comply with a Release Order


Hansen DORION (23) of The Pas has been arrested and remanded into custody with the following charges:

-          Aggravated assault

-          Forcible confinement

-          Commit an offence for a criminal organization


Charges have been laid and warrants of arrest have been issued for the following individuals:


Shontelle EASTER (29) of Moose Lake is wanted for the following charges:

-          Aggravated assault

-          Forcible confinement

-          Commit an offence for a criminal organization


Byron MCGILLIVARY (38) of Opaskwayak Cree Nation is wanted for the following charges:

-          Aggravated assault

-          Forcible confinement

-          Commit an offence for a criminal organization
