Pro-active traffic stop leads to drug trafficking charges

On September 25, 2025, at approximately 4:15 AM Manitoba First Nations Police Service officers in Opaskwayak Cree Nation conducted a traffic stop to ensure sobriety and proper licencing. Further investigation led to all occupants of the vehicle being arrested for possession of a controlled substance. 


A search of the vehicle revealed suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, hydromorphine, and other drug trafficking related items.


An adult female (23) from The Pas was released on an Undertaking as per the Criminal Code of Canada to appear in Court at a later date with the following charges:


-          Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)

-          Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid)

-          Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (other)


 The passengers of the vehicle were released from custody without charges.
