Youth Injured by Machete at Local Fair
Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba
On May 24, 2025, Manitoba First Nations Police (MFNP) were called to a report that a youth had been attacked with a machete at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Center Parking Lot where an amusement park had been set up in Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN).
Police responded and found that a male youth had a cut to his head. Officers seized a weapon at the scene that was identified as being used in the attack. The youth was transported to The Pas hospital in stable condition for further treatment.
Police are actively trying located the suspect involved in this assault and are asking for the public’s assistance with any witnesses or videos of the incident.
