Assault Investigation Leads to Search of Drugs and Charges

Swan Lake First Nation, Manitoba

 On May 2, 2025, Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) responded to a report of an assault on two youths in the community of Swan Lake. 


Police quickly responded to the area and a suspect was identified, Police located the suspect in the area and was placed under arrest for the assaults. During the arrest the subject was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine. Upon further investigation, and with the assistance of MFNP Criminal Investigation Unit, Police were able to obtain a search warrant for a residence in Swan Lake First Nation that resulted in seizure of weapons, cocaine and illicit cannabis. 


Cody Alex MARTIN (27) of Swan Lake First Nation, has been charged with the following: 

• Possess Weapon Contrary to Order x4 

• Assault x2 

• Possession of Prohibited Device x3 

• Possession of Illicit Cannabis 

• Possess More than 5g of Dried Cannabis 

• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking 

• Possess Cannabis not Labeled and Stamped in Accordance with Federal Requirements 


Nancy Martin, 56 years old, of Swan Lake First Nation, has also been charged with the following:

• Possession of prohibited weapon X3

• Possession of illicit Cannabis X2
