Police Seek Suspects After Machete Attack
Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Manitoba

On July 31, 2025, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) in Opaskwayak Cree Nation responded to a report of a male who had been assaulted with a machete in Opaskwayak Cree Nation (OCN).
Police attended to the area of 200 Kiche Maskanow and learned that a group of males were reported to have assaulted the victim with an edged weapon. A 56-year-old victim was transported to hospital and treated for nonlife threating injuries.
Police are actively trying to locate the suspects involved in this incident and are asking for the public’s assistance. Police are seeking assistance in reviewing home security footage around the Kikiwak and the 200 block of Kiche Maskanow between 1:00 am and 2:00 am on July 31st, 2025.
