Two arrested after the shooting of a male.
Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation
On October 28, 2025, the Manitoba First Nations Police Service in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation received a report from EMS of a male who was shot in the arm on Lake Road South in Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation.
Police attended the location and found that an adult male was approached by three males on ATVs while walking on the road. A verbal argument occurred between the victim and one of the males, resulting in the victim being slashed with a knife and shot in the arm. EMS transported the victim to the Portage Hospital.
On October 29, 2025, Police located Tommy Desmarais (23) of Sandy Bay Ojibway Nation and arrested and charged him with the following offence:
- Discharge a Firearm with the intent to endanger life
On November 3, 2025, with the assistance of the Manitoba RCMP, the second subject, Damrey Desmarias (21) of Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation was arrested and charged with the following offences:
- Discharge a Firearm with the intent to endanger life
- Possession of a firearm while prohibited
- Assault with a weapon
