Supply of Laced Drugs Leads to Search Warrant

Members of the Manitoba First Nations Police Service (MFNPS) Brokenhead Detachment became aware of a dangerous supply of methamphetamine circulating within the community that was believed to be laced with fentanyl, resulting in severe adverse reactions and overdoses.
Due to the significant risk to public safety, the MFNPS Crime Reduction and Enforcement Unit (CREU) was engaged and acted swiftly to obtain a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
On May 27, 2026, members of the Brokenhead Detachment, with assistance from several other MFNPS units, executed the search warrant at a residence within Brokenhead Ojibway Nation. As a result of the search, officers seized the following:
· Approximately 74 grams of methamphetamine, with 66 grams believed to be laced with fentanyl
· Several cellular phones
· Two air pistols
· One rifle chambered in .22 Long Rifle
· Assorted ammunition
· A 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe
Shane BEAUDRY, 40, of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, was arrested and has been remanded in custody with the following charges:
· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
· Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
· Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
A 40-year-old female of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation has been charged with the following charges and released on an Appearance Notice as mandated by the Criminal Code.
· Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
MFNPS continues to warn the public that illicit street drugs may be more dangerous than ever, often containing substances such as fentanyl without the user’s knowledge. These unknown compositions significantly increase the risk of overdose and death.
